Garage Sale Postponed

With everything going on with the move I forgot to do one simple thing: call the city for a garage sale permit. By the time I realized it, the offices were closed for the weekend. Oops! We are postponing the sale until 10/22. The house should be all packed up by then so this will give us the opportunity to find more possible items to sell in the next couple weeks. This also worked out well for our neighbors who are doing the sale with us. They didn't get to go through everything they wanted to sell either. I feel so silly for forgetting about this, but I guess it will work out!

A New Adventure!!

On my last post I mentioned that a lot has been going on lately in our life. I am now able to elaborate...

In June, Jason heard about a possible new job opportunity with Oracle out in Redwood City, CA. He talked to a recruiter and then we didn't hear anything for two months. We naturally assumed that nothing was going to come of it, that is until Jason got a message from the recruiter in late August. Apparently, there was a mix-up (long story) which is why he was never called. Two weeks later, Jason had his first phone interview. The interview went well and Jason was supposed to fly out for an in-person interview the following week, but we never received a call as to an interview time, so we thought again that this was not going to work out. Then out of the blue we heard something. Jason was qualified for two positions and they wanted him to do another phone interview with a different manager before he flew out for an in-person interview. Jason had the next phone interview a week later which went extremely well and Jason became very excited about this second job opportunity (this job seemed to be perfect for him). That interview led to yet another phone interview, this time with the director of the department. Jason told me after that the interview was the most challenging interview he has ever had. He did well though and impressed the director of the department (so much so that she started the hiring process). Jason was told he would have to face one more interview, but to save us time and money they decided to do it over Skype. Jason had to prepare a 15 minute PowerPoint presentation and sales pitch for the product he would be selling. Jason did his homework and he did great. Jason received a verbal offer this last Thursday. Since the hiring process had already started (something we did not know about until recently) his written offer is already on its way. It usually takes 2-4 weeks to get approval for a written offer after a verbal is given. Oracle is so excited to have Jason on their team.

The timeline is quick. They want Jason to start November 1st. Jason will give his two weeks at Dell this Friday and his last day will be October 22nd, giving us a week to move. We are so blessed to have family that will let us stay with them until we find a place to live.

We are renting out our house here in OKC. The property management company we are having manage the rental of our home is coming by today to take pictures and place a sign in our front yard. Please pray we find a renter soon.

We are so excited! We have been wanting to move back to CA for a while now, but we thought it would be a few years down the road. We are still in awe at how God has orchestrated all of this. We are still pinching ourselves a bit.

Now we are packing, cleaning and packing some more. We are having a garage sale this weekend and are going to try and get rid of everything we do not need. What doesn't sell is being donated. Our goal is to have everything ready to go so we can have a smooth move with little to no hiccups. We will see... :) I am flying out with Maddie and Jason in driving a moving truck with one of our friends who has offered to help. Please pray for their trip!

3 more weeks and we will be leaving OK. This month is going to fly by with everything we have to do. I am looking forward to being moved into a new place and getting some time to relax! :)

Can I take a time-out from life?

After a day filled so far with homework and research, I decided instead of starting on the dirty dishes and laundry I would sit down and share a graham cracker with my beautiful little girl. I dislike days like these. I change her, bathe her, dress her, feed her, make sure she gets her naps and make sure she doesn't get into anything she is not suppose to, but these are the days I don't get to play with her, snuggle her, teach her new things, and basically spend some quality mommy-Maddie time. Can I just tell the duties of life to leave me alone for a while? :)
There has been a lot going on in our lives. Too much to explain in this blog post and at this time, we are not ready to disclose everything. Sorry to be so vague. One thing I will say, just so no rumors start, is that we are not pregnant. We are still just a family of three. :)
I hope that more days of playing, snuggling and quality time are in the near future, but until then I will do my best to take breaks to spend some time (even if it is short) loving on my little girl. I love you Madison!

So far, so good!

Saturday, we received our Trend Lab Crib Wrap in the mail and so far, so good! Maddie actually really likes it. I think that is because it is soft. (It is fleece on one side and waterproof on the other.) It fits well and looks great. It attaches by ties, which is great because Maddie will not be able to get it off. Currently we ordered enough wraps to cover the front and two side rails. I am using her old teething guard on the back rail and even though she is still taking that one off, she is not chewing. If she starts chewing the back we may order another wrap. So far, I am really happy with our purchase. We should have purchased it months ago!

Believe

The church Jason and I have been attending (http://journeychurch.tv/) has sung this song twice since we started coming a few weeks ago. I think it is beautiful, so I thought I would share it with all of you. :)

"Believe"- from the album "A Beautiful Exchange" by Hillsong

VERSE 1:
You are my light
You are my strength
You are my Rock
On Who I stand

I lift my voice
I raise my hands
I lift my soul
With all I am

PRE-CHORUS:
In Christ forever I'll stand
I will believe

CHORUS:
You are strong enough
In my weakness
God be lifted up
And I will sing
Lift Your praises high
Lord be magnified
You make all things new
I will believe

VERSE 2:
So, hear this song
Receive our praise
You are my strength
For all our days

We lift You up
Our voices high
In every storm
Let God arise

BRIDGE:
Oh, Your love
Your love will never fail
Your love, it knows no end
Your love will never fail

Oh, Your love
Stronger than my strength
Greater than my pain
Your love will never fail

I will believe

OKC Phil Harmonic

Every year OCCC (Oklahoma City Community College) produces and hosts an arts festival. During the festival, the OKC Phil Harmonic gives a free outdoor concert that ends with a fireworks display. This is the first year that Jason and I knew about it, so we decided to take Maddie. She loved it! We had such a wonderful time. We will definitely do this again. :)
